Robot Model Library

Building a Mech-Viz project usually starts with selecting a robot model. The robot model selected in the robot model library should match the robot model used in the actual applications.

Select Robot Model

To ensure that you can obtain and download the latest robot models, it is recommended to click Load online robot model list when the network access is available. If you are currently unable to connect to the internet, you can only use local robot models.

Obtaining the online robot model list does not mean that the local robot model list will be updated. After you obtain the online robot model list, click Update local robot model in the right-click shortcut menu of the robot model card with “Updatable” label, then you will update the local robot models. Please note that this will overwrite the local robot model file.

The process of selecting robot model is as follows:

  1. You can either enter the robot model into the search box in the top left corner or filter robot models by setting the filtering conditions.

  2. Move the mouse over the robot model card:

    • If the robot model is not available locally, click Download. After that, double-click the robot model card or click Select;

    • If the robot model is available locally, select it directly.

Additionally, clicking the robot model card will display the communication mode(s) supported by the current robot and its features in Master-Control communication.

Robot Communication Mode
  • A checkmark (√) after Master-Control communication indicates that the current robot supports Master-Control Communication.

    Master-Control Communication: In this mode, the Vision System functions as the master device to send commands, while the robot functions as the slave device, performing tasks according to the commands received from the master device. This is generally used in scenarios where the robot does not need to communicate with devices other than the Vision System.

  • A checkmark (√) after Standard Interface example programs indicates that there are example programs available in the software for the robot brand.

    Standard Interface Communication: In this mode, the robot side calls an interface command and instructs the Vision System to process it and return the result. Subsequently, the robot processes the received result to further derive its desired outcome. This is generally used in scenarios where robot programs are more complex, and the Vision System only serves as a vision data provider for the robot system. In theory, all robots support Standard Interface Communication.

Master-Control Communication Features

Mech-Viz supports different features for different robots, which affects Mech-Viz control over certain robot features.

After selecting a robot, the robot’s Master-Control Communication features will be displayed. A checkmark (√) indicates the feature is supported, while a cross (×) indicates not supported.

FAQs

Why do some robots have an “Updatable” label?

Robot model cards with an Updatable label indicate that the local robot model and the online robot model do not match.

You can use the local robot model without updating, or right-click the card and select Update local robot model to download the online robot model file. Please note that this will overwrite the local robot model file. After downloading, the robot model will be labeled as Local.

How to use self-prepared robot model files?

  • To create robot models and import them into Mech-Viz, please refer to Robot Model Creating and Importing.

  • To import robot installation package file (.mrob), please perform the following steps.

    To export the robot installation package file (.mrob), you can go to Tools > Robot Library Tools > Export Current Robot.
    1. Click Import local robot model package on the lower-left corner of the Robot Model Library.

    2. Select the robot installation package file (.mrob) and click Open.

    3. If a window saying “Robot xxx resource file already exists. Do you want to overwrite? ” pops up, click Yes.

    4. Search for the robot installation package file name, move your mouse to the robot model card, and click Select.

If you want to view the robot model file, hover the mouse cursor over the corresponding robot model card, right-click and select Open robot model folder. You can also right-click the robot name in the project resource tree, and then select Open Robot File Directory in the context menu.
