Under all circumstances, personnel safety is always the most important factor, alongside ensuring equipment safety. Mech-Mind recommends that all maintenance operations prioritize safety as the foremost consideration and take all appropriate steps to ensure the safety of both personnel and equipment.

Ensure personal safety during maintenance

  • The robot system should be operated outside of the safety fence, and entry into the robot’s working area should be avoided unless absolutely necessary.

  • Before entering the work area, visually inspect the robot and any attached equipment to ensure there are no potential risks. The location and status of safety devices should be confirmed in advance. Ensure that the robot is in manual mode, the emergency stop is engaged, and the safety lock is in place.

  • When performing maintenance and operations on equipment, you need to wear appropriate work clothing, safety shoes, a safety helmet, reflective vests, and other personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • When mounting cameras and wiring, if a ladder is required for work at heights, ensure that the ladder is of good quality and reliable. When working at heights exceeding two meters, you must wear a safety harness and a safety helmet. Do not straddle the top of the ladder or sit on it while working.

  • Do not wear or carry inappropriate items such as watches, bracelets, necklaces, ties, or loose clothing that could get caught in moving machinery.

  • When performing maintenance, try to work with the robot and system power turned off whenever possible.

  • If it is absolutely necessary to work with the power on, press the emergency stop button on the robot controller or teach pendant before entering the area. Additionally, place a warning sign such as “Equipment Under Maintenance” on the teach pendant to alert others not to operate the robot.

  • When wiring the camera, it is recommended to first disconnect the power.

  • Do not start the robot if there is anyone within its range of movement.

  • When replacing parts, please confirm the installation details with our company. Never proceed with the work based on your own judgment alone so as to prevent unexpected accidents.

  • When performing automatic extrinsic parameter calibration, set the robot speed as slow as possible to ensure that the calibration board does not wobble significantly.

  • When the robot is in automatic mode and has stopped, do not assume that the robot program has stopped and will not restart. The robot may be waiting for some information and could start up again at any moment. If you need to troubleshoot an issue, switch the robot to manual mode before investigating.

  • It is PROHIBITED to place any explosive or flammable substances near the camera. Do not expose the camera to open fire or high temperature.

  • Do not throw, drop, or collide the camera with other objects. 3D cameras are precision instruments. If subjected to strong impacts or vibrations, they may be damaged or malfunction.

  • Do not allow any foreign object, such as metal pieces, dust, paper, and wood chips, to enter the camera. Doing so may lead to fire, electric shock, malfunction, etc.

  • Do not use the camera at extremely high or low temperature. The operating temperature range is -10~45℃ for the LSR series and DEEP camera.

  • Please use the camera at altitudes below 4,000 meters.

  • If using a virtual camera to reproduce the problem, please disable Virtual Mode before resuming production.

  • Before restarting the robot system after maintenance work, ensure that the robot’s operating range is clear of any personnel.

Safe use of laser cameras

  • DO NOT look into the laser beam or the reflected laser beam directly. Do not look into the laser beam with optical instruments. Doing so may lead to eye injuries.

  • Be cautious of the path of the laser beam. If there is a possibility that personnel may be exposed to the specular or diffuse reflections, block the beam by installing a protective enclosure. Do not enter the areas that the laser/reflected laser output reaches. Do not place any reflective light object (mirror, glass, metal, etc.) in the path of the laser beam.

  • LASER ENERGY - EXPOSURE NEAR APERTURE MAY CAUSE BURNS. NOTE: The risk of skin injury is only likely for highly divergent beams for exposure close to the aperture.
