Could Not Connect to Laser Profiler
Symptom
The laser profiler to which you want to connect could be discovered by Mech-Eye SDK or the GenICam client, but could not be connected.
Possible Causes
The reason that the laser profiler could not be connected can be any of the following, and these reasons need to be investigated one by one:

The laser profiler is connected to a router with an Ethernet cable, and the computer is connected to the Wi-Fi of the router.
-
The laser profiler IP address and the IP address of the computer Ethernet port connected to the laser profiler are not in the same subnet.
-
In the same local network, another device has the same IP address as the laser profiler (IP address conflict).
-
The MTU size of the laser profiler is 9000, but the computer or network switch / router did not enable or does not support jumbo frames.
-
The IP addresses of multiple computer Ethernet ports are in the same subnet.

Please investigate each of the above reasons one by one according to the following sections.
Computer Connected to Router Wi-Fi
Please follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Open the Control Panel and select View network status and tasks under Network and Internet.

Check if Wi-Fi is displayed next to Connections.
-
If so, proceed to step 3.
-
If not, proceed to the next section.
-

Disable the Wi-Fi function of the router or connect the router and computer with an Ethernet cable. Then, check if the laser profiler can be connected in Mech-Eye SDK or the GenICam client.

If so, the troubleshooting is completed.
-
If not, proceed to the next section.

Laser Profiler IP address and IP Address of Computer Ethernet Port Not in the Same Subnet
Please follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:
-
Check the laser profiler IP address in Mech-Eye Viewer.
-
Refer to Set IP Address on Computer and check the IP address of the computer Ethernet port connected to the laser profiler.
-
If the computer Ethernet port is set to Obtain an IP address automatically, refer to Set IP Address on Computer and set a static IP address for the Ethernet port. Then, proceed to step 3.
-
If the two IP addresses are not in the same subnet, modify the IP address of the laser profiler or the computer Ethernet port so that the two are in the same subnet. Then, proceed to step 3.
Modify the laser profiler IP address
Use Mech-Eye Viewer or the IP configuration tool to modify.
Modify the IP address of the computer Ethernet port
Refer to Set IP Address on Computer.

If the two IP addresses are in the same subnet, proceed to the next section.
-
-
Check if the laser profiler can be connected in Mech-Eye SDK or the GenICam client.
-
If so, the troubleshooting is completed.
-
If not, proceed to the next section.

IP Address Conflict
Please follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:
-
Disconnect the computer from devices other than the laser profiler, including devices connected through a network switch / router.
-
Check if the laser profiler can be connected in Mech-Eye SDK or the GenICam client.
-
If so, another device has the same IP address as the laser profiler. Proceed to step 3.
-
If not, proceed to the next section.
-

Connect one of the other devices to the computer, and then check if the laser profiler can be connected in Mech-Eye SDK or the GenICam client. Then, disconnect that device. Repeat this process until you find the device whose connection makes the laser profiler not connectable. This is the device that has the same IP address as the laser profiler.
-
Modify the IP address of this device, or modify the laser profiler IP address with Mech-Eye Viewer or the IP configuration tool. Then, connect the other devices to the computer.
-
Check again if the laser profiler can be connected in Mech-Eye SDK or the GenICam client.
-
If so, the troubleshooting is completed.
-
If not, proceed to the next section.

Jumbo Frames Not Enabled or Supported
If you have never changed the MTU size of the laser profiler to 9000, skip this section. |

Check if the computer has jumbo frames enabled. For details, refer to Enable Jumbo Frames.
-
If so, proceed to step 2.
-
If not, enable jumbo frames and then check if the laser profiler can be connected in Mech-Eye SDK or the GenICam client.
-
If so, the troubleshooting is completed.
-
If not, proceed to step 2.

If the laser profiler is connected to the computer through a network switch / router, proceed to step 3. If the laser profiler is connected to the computer directly, proceed to step 4.
-
Refer to the user manual of the network switch / router or contact the manufacturer to check if the device supports jumbo frames.
-
If the device supports jumbo frames, enable the function according to the user manual of the network switch / router. Then, check if the laser profiler can be connected in Mech-Eye SDK or the GenICam client.
-
If so, the troubleshooting is completed.
-
If not proceed to step 4.
If possible, you can replace the network switch / router with one that supports jumbo frames.
-
-
If the device does not support jumbo frames, proceed to step 4.
-
-
Change the MTU size of the laser profiler to 1500. Then, check if the laser profiler can be connected in Mech-Eye SDK or the GenICam client.
-
If so, the troubleshooting is completed.
-
If not, proceed to the next section.

IP Addresses of Multiple Computer Ethernet Ports in the Same Subnet
Please follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:
-
Disable the Ethernet ports other than the one connected to the laser profiler:
-
Open the Control Panel and select View network status and tasks under Network and Internet.
-
Select Change adapter settings on the left. The Network Connections window will pop up.
-
In the Network Connections window, right-click the Ethernet ports other than the one connected to the laser profiler and select Disable.
-
-
Check if the laser profiler can be connected in Mech-Eye SDK or the GenICam client.
-
If so, then the IP addresses of multiple computer Ethernet ports are in the same subnet. Proceed to step 3.
-
If not proceed to step 4.
-

Modify the IP addresses of the disabled Ethernet ports and then enable these Ethernet ports:
-
Return to the Network Connections window, and refer to Set IP Address on Computer and modify the IP addresses of the disabled Ethernet ports to other subnets.
-
Right-click these Ethernet ports and select Enable to enable these Ethernet ports. Then, check if the laser profiler can be connected in Mech-Eye SDK or the GenICam client.
-
If so, the troubleshooting is completed.

If not proceed to step 4.

Restart the laser profiler: Disconnect the laser profiler from power and then reconnect it to power. Then, check again if the laser profiler can be connected in Mech-Eye SDK or the GenICam client.

If so, the troubleshooting is completed.
