Setting camera parameters such as Auto-Exposure ROI, Depth Range and ROI usually requires the assistance of visualized tools for several rounds of fine tuning. Since GenICam-compliant third-party machine vision software (GenICam clients) does not provide visualized tools, you can set these parameters by using the visualized tools provided in Mech-Eye Viewer.

After setting these parameters using Mech-Eye Viewer, you can read the latest camera configuration in a GenICam client directly.

Preparation

Before you adjust parameters in Mech-Eye Viewer, complete the following steps:

  1. Save the changes that you made in the GenICam client.

  2. Disconnect from the camera in the GenICam client.

  3. Connect to the camera in Mech-Eye Viewer.

  4. In the parameter panel on the right of Mech-Eye Viewer, select the parameter group to which you want to save the parameter values.

A GenICam client can read parameter groups but not add or delete parameter groups. For instructions on adding/deleting a parameter group, please refer to Configure Parameter Group in Mech-Eye Viewer.

Adjust Parameters with Visualized Tools

Below you can find instructions on setting Auto-Exposure ROI, Depth Range and ROI, respectively.

Set Auto-Exposure ROI

To set Auto-Exposure ROI, follow these steps:

  1. In the parameter panel on the right of Mech-Eye Viewer, locate the 2D Parameters category.

  2. From the drop-down menu of Exposure Mode, select Auto.

  3. Double-click Edit to the right of Auto-Exposure ROI to open the Set ROI window.

  4. Set Auto-Exposure ROI in the pop-up window. For detailed instructions, please refer to Set Auto-Exposure ROI. The correspondence between Auto-Exposure ROI parameters in a GenICam client and those in Mech-Eye Viewer is as follows:

Set Depth Range

To set Depth Range, follow these steps:

  1. In the parameter panel on the right of Mech-Eye Viewer, locate the Depth Range category.

  2. Double-click Edit to the right of Depth Range to open the Set Depth Range window.

  3. Set Depth Range in the pop-up window. For detailed instructions, please refer to Set Depth Range.

Set ROI

To set ROI, follow these steps:

  1. In the parameter panel on the right of Mech-Eye Viewer, locate the ROI category.

  2. Double-click Edit to the right of ROI to open the Set ROI window.

  3. Set ROI in the pop-up window. For detailed instructions, please refer to Set ROI.

Read Altered Values into GenICam Client

After setting Auto-Exposure ROI, Depth Range and ROI in Mech-Eye Viewer, complete the following steps to ensure that the GenICam client can read the modified parameter values.

  1. In the parameter panel on the right of Mech-Eye Viewer, click Save at the top or press Ctrl + S on the keyboard to save the parameter values into the parameter group.

  2. Disconnect from the camera in Mech-Eye Viewer.

  3. Connect to the camera in the GenICam client.

  4. In the GenICam client, select and load the parameter group with the UserSetSelector and UserSetLoad parameters.
