You can save the acquired intensity image, depth map, point cloud, and the virtual device file.

Save Acquired Data

You can save the acquired intensity image, depth map, and point cloud to local manually or automatically.

  • The raw image and profile in the profile mode cannot be saved.

  • When the Data Acquisition Method is set to Nonstop, it is not recommended to perform data saving operations.

  • When the Data Acquisition Trigger Source is set to External, the interval between triggers should not be shorter than the time required to save one set of data. When saving data manually, the time displayed above the progress bar in the data display area indicates the time required to save one set of data.

Please follow these steps to save acquired data:

  1. In the data display area, select Manual save or Auto save from the drop-down list.

If Auto save is selected, the software automatically enables the data save switch. After data acquisition starts, the software automatically saves the acquired data.

  2. Click the Settings button to open the Save Data window.

  3. Select the data types to be saved:

    • To use the saved data in Mech-MSR, select the checkbox before Data immediately readable by Mech-MSR. The saved data can be read in the Virtual Mode in the 3D Laser Profiler Step in Mech-MSR.

    • To save the intensity image, depth map, or point cloud separately, select the checkbox before Customize and then select the data type that you need to save. For detailed descriptions, refer to Data Types and Formats.

  4. Click folder to the right of Save to to select the folder for saving the data.

  5. When Auto save is selected, set the Auto save count parameter. The software stops auto saving when the number of successful saves reaches the set value.

  6. Click Confirm to save the setting.

  7. Acquire and save data:

    • When Manual save is selected, click the single cap button to acquire data once, and then click the save once button to save the acquired data.

    • When Auto save is selected, enable the data save switch, and then click the continuous cap button to acquire data continuously. The software automatically saves the acquired data to local.

Data Types and Formats

When saving the data, you can select the file format to be saved, as well as the data structure, color, and reference frame of the point cloud.

  • Intensity image: can be saved in the PNG (.png) or JPEG (.jpg) format.

  • Depth map: can be saved in the PNG (.png) or TIFF (.tiff) format.

  • Point cloud: can select the file format, data structure, color, and reference frame to be saved.

    Format

    • PLY (.ply)

    • PCD (.pcd)

    • CSV (.csv)

    Data structure

    • Organized: The point cloud resembles a two-dimensional matrix, which corresponds to the actual spacial relationship between points.

    • Unorganized: The point cloud resembles a one-dimensional list.

    Color

    • Jet

    • Grayscale

    • Jet + intensity

    • Untextured

    • Textured

    Reference frame

    • Device: Saves the point cloud in the device reference frame.
