Camera Selection Principles¶
Clear view: The camera can clearly capture images so that the point cloud of the object is clear with minimum holes or noises, and the features can be fully recognized and displayed.
Complete coverage: The field of view is sufficient to cover everything necessary.
Accurate results: The point cloud is highly accurate with munimum error.
Camera Selection Standards¶
Whether Monochrome or Color
If there is a need for color images, such as using deep learning for carton depalletizing projects, select a color camera; otherwise, please select a monochrome camera by default.
Working Distance
Applications with small depth of field:
The distance from the camera to the object is relatively fixed.
Examples are flat plate gluing, flat plate gripping, shallow bin picking, etc.
Suppose that the designed or measured distance is D. An available model with applicable distance closest to D should be selected.
If the available model’s applicable distance is significantly different from D, or the project has extremely high focus requirements, the requirements can be discussed separately.
Applications with large depth of field:
The distance from the camera to the object is relatively large.
Examples are depalletizing, deep bin picking, etc.
Suppose that the designed or measured distance range is D1–D2 (D1 < D2). An available model with applicable distance closest to D2 should be selected.
If the available model’s applicable distance is significantly different from D2, or the project has extremely high focus requirements, the requirements can be discussed separately.
