FOV Calculator

The FOV Calculator tool is used to help determine the mounting height of the camera based on your needs for camera FOV. Based on the entered working distance, this tool calculates the FOV height and width at this distance.

Calculate Camera FOV

To calculate the camera FOV with the FOV Calculator tool, please follow these steps.

  1. Select the camera model in the Select camera model drop-down menu.

    Hint

The frequently used models are displayed on the first page. Click Other models to view the rest of the models.

  2. Enter the working distance in the Enter working distance field. The FOV height and FOV width are calculated based on the entered working distance. If the calculated FOV does not meet your needs, proceed to the next step.

    Note

    • The range of the working distance is the recommended working distance of the selected camera model. Refer to Camera Working Distance.

    • The entered working distance must be within the above range. Otherwise, the entered value will be automatically adjusted.

  3. Click the arrow buttons to the right or scroll the mouse wheel to adjust the working distance, until the calculated FOV meets your needs. Use this working distance to estimate the appropriate mounting height of the camera.
